The approved & implemented Master Plan for the redevelopment of central Singapore. Boulevards, the cultural district, building sites for specific use groups & open space were planned anticipating building densities & massing. Mr. Wong also recommended the creation of additional landfill area in order to reconfigure and envelope the Lagoon in such a way that future development could occur in the closest proximity to the existing downtown.
This Master Plan, along with the Singapore River Master Plan, both led by Mr. Wong, constitute the working masterplan for modern-day Singapore. 300 hectares (450 acres) of landfill property, which resulted from the excavation for the Singapore Rapid Transit System.
