For a treasured family home, the decidedly modern younger family member who inherited it wanted to nearly double the space and update it, while retaining much of her grandmother’s decor.

In setting out to renovate the Easthampton, New York residence, the animating idea was to honor a classic while adding a chic, modern functional touch. “This house was (my grandmother’s) dream, and escape, a place for entertaining and for family,” states the client, who also loves being with family. The design objective was to keep the warmth and heritage but update the home so some old-style formality was removed and replaced with more relaxed, bolder color and casual atmosphere. Classic, with a youthful twist!
