United Nations

Location: New York

The Secretariat is a landmark of curtain wall construction:  arguably the first unitized aluminum curtain wall in the US. FORM NY worked as part of an extensive team under the leadership of Kellogg Wong, along with Charles Lauster, Peter Kincl, Maria Sevely, and others. After thorough assessment, the historic United Nations complex has been brought up to date and energy efficient consistent with best practices for sustainable development.

The mission of the Capital Master Plan was to document and evaluate existing conditions of the historic headquarters in Manhattan, develop a plan for the renovation of the United Nations Headquarters Complex and manage the renovation on time and within budget, in a safe, accountable and transparent manner, in order to create a modern, safe and sustainable work environment.

With open plan office layouts, natural light and views can now be enjoyed by all staff in the renovated Secretariat.
